Toastmaster Classic 1.5L Electric Cordless Jug Kettle, Black

AWFUL
This kettle was awful from the get go: it is really really cheap plastic (there is good quality thick plastic and such); the lid wouldn't open enough
to put water in then it opened too far and wouldn't shut all the way, causing the auto off feature not to work.

I asked for my money back and that was even worse: the man I dealt with was very very mean and crude.

I just threw the unit away.

I had bought another lemon before this one--, both very inexpensive. I had forgotten my old rule: always buy top of the line with electronics, and the auto-off
is electronic.

I went ahead and bought a $60 unit from amazon: if something goes wrong they are quick to send you a return shipping label and replace or reimburse the situation.

Good Machine
This looks closest to the style we bought several years ago, except that it was white. The plastic base has a thick electric cord, and the cordless plastic kettle sits on the base. We bought ours at Walgreens. It boils the water in the covered pitcher. I've never noticed a plastic taste. I think I saw them for $10 once, at a Food For Less. I wish I had bought another one. They are so handy! Oh yes, there was a removeable fine cloth or plastic mesh screen, that fitted on the inner part of the spout. That mesh piece didn't last long; it was too fragile. It had a plastic frame and I threw that section away. We didn't really need it and we don't miss it. Other than that, it's a really good appliance. I don't know what the new ones are like but I love the model we have. If I saw a new one for $10 again, I'd snatch it up!

Convenient
This is a very efficient kettle. It boils quickly and I like the fact that the jug is cordless.
