Fabulous Juicer
2 years after my original review the juicer is still working well. You will need a little more muscle to juice carrots if carrots are hard but the work is worth the juice you receive.
You get what you pay for is very real with juicers. I have been juicing for more than 10 years and have graduated from centrifical force juicers to masticating to the Green Power. It is everything it says it is. My family juices daily. This juicer is definitely quieter than all other juicers we have used. The juice has less pulp than other juicers we have used as well a better tasting juice (even with mediocre carrots). Cleaning the juicer is the easiest of all juicers we have had. (That's worth the extra bucks). If you're a serious juicer go to the top of the line. You won't be disappointed.
Twin Gear failure
I own a Model GL-20001 Green Life Juicer since 2001, puchased new
I do not juice that much, i make a pesto sauce maybe twice a year..
I maintain this unit as per instuctions and clean by hand, stored in my kitchen
It works very well, however the PLASTIC on the twin gears continue to crack and fracture.
The first gear broke out of warranty... Tribest replaced this gear for a cost price and i shipped back the failed part.
Got it out a year later and the new gear was crack....
Contacted customer service at Tribest..i explained in detail how i use and maintain..
Representative could only tell me that plastic will crack over time even if stored out of the light..
I am not an engineer however, it is easy to see that when the the plastic is bored out to fit the shaft it is undersized to form a press fit on the steel shaft..So when it is pressed on the plastic has to expand..the plastic gear has constant outward pressure so the crack comes from the area...
A nice quiet juicer, but not the most robust one...
This juicer was recently purchased for use in Dubai - one thing we found out after it arrived was the 110 volt - c'mon, who still makes 110v stuff like this? anyway, we got around that issue by using a small power converter.
We started using the juicer in our juice bar and unfortunately by the second day, the plastic strainer had burst and pulp was making it's way to the juice container...
This is unfortunate as we were hoping this twin gear juicer would be a good alternative to our other juicers that press the grass and generate lots of heat.
We are still using the juicer with the burst strainer, however we changed the outer attachment to the Vegetable Screen - which has a built in screen to strain the pulp, but ultimately we will be replacing this one with the all steel constructed Nutrifaster Juicer from Australia (which is twice the price, but alas has been running in our juice bars for 2 years non stop without a single breakage or malfunction).
