Old Mountain popcorn popper

The Best I've Found Yet
These popcorn poppers are GREAT. They pop the corn far faster than doing it in a kettle on the stove, and the corn is lighter and crispier than other methods I've tried. About 1/3 cup of corn fills the kettle, so you get higher yield, too; and almost no unpopped corn at the bottom of the pan.)

ADVANTAGES to the Old Mountain popper: 1) instead of a flimsy wire in the bottom (like WhirlyPop [sp?]), this has a sturdy blade; 2) instead of a metal cover with plastic inserts that melt or crack with repeated use (yes, I had one that did), this has an all-aluminum cover that lasts forever; 3) unlike some brands that have solid covers, this one is vented, assuring that your popcorn is CRISPY!

DISADVANTAGE (not just to this brand, sadly) is that the pot itself is very thin aluminum and dents easily; I've had mine probably 6 or 7 years, so it does last, but it looks as if it has been through the war, and it looked that way within a year of the time I bought it! I use it...

Works well, but not high quality
I could not give this item more than 3 stars because the item arrived with a small dent which was not severe enough to return but still a bit annoying. Additionally, I expected a more heavy duty popper. This popper is very light gauge aluminum. As if to underscore my comment about quality, one of the gear teeth broke on first use. Regardless, as I said, it does work well in that almost all kernels do pop and they taste great. I am using Orville Redenbacher Corn and popping oil."
