this doesn't work
I got this for my parents last christmas. But we didn't open it till hurricane sandy hit this year and we lost electricity.
The box has no instructions on how to put this thing together.
The top and bottom of the basket don't meet and the wooden knob on the top is impossible to screw in.
The knob is just for decoration so I could live with the fact that the knob wouldn't screw in but since the top and bottom wouldn't meet and latch correctly we couldn't use the popper.
You're supposed to oil the bottom, heat it in the fire, put the popcorn in, latch the top and shake the pot while it's in the fire so the poporn kernals don't stick or burn. But when the top doesn't latch correctly you can't shake the kernals without the top falling right INTO the fireplace - wooden knob and all.
After losing electricity for days - having nothing for entertainment - me & my family were SO diaapointed that this didn't work - plus we were HUNGRY! We...

I bought this as a christmas give for our friends. The have an indoor fireplce and an outdoor fire pit. My sister gave us one a couple years ago and we have used it camping...fun!
