Food Network 12-Cup Food Processor

This is a fine machine, but didn't meet my needs.
The machine chopped, shredded and did an overall excellent job, but after a short trial period I'm returning it. Previously I had a cheapo food processor that was too small, the food chute was too small, and using it became such a hassle it was easier to slice and dice by hand. Now that I've vowed to eat healthier, and have became the queen of salsa, I thought it was time to get a processor that works better for a family of four. This Food Network one has a large food chute and bigger bowl. I love the idea of not having to do a lot of chopping just to get onions, potatoes, peppers etc. down the chute, but I didn't want to pluck out the money for a more expensive brand. I was very impressed with the way it slices, cuts, shreds. What annoyed me was the food chute design. The food pusher downer thing is permantly attached to the chute by a lid attached to a hinge. It's the only processor I've seen like this and frankly it's kind of weird. The pusher downer slides up and down, but...

Approximately 10-12 uses?
We have had this for a couple of years but mainly use it in the summer for pestos and salsas. We fired it up this year, using a total of a dozen times at best, and it no longer works. The motor turns on, however, the blades to do not spin. Spend the extra $$ and get a Cuisinart of Kitchen aid. We received this as a gift.

Stay far, far away.
We only used this a couple of times before returning it. Originally, we picked this one because it was so much cheaper than similar offerings from Kitchenaid and Cuisinart. Turns out there was a reason for that - it is poorly made and poorly designed. The plunger mechanism is completely captive, which makes it difficult to wash. On top of that, the spring-loaded clip that locks the bowl in place trapped food and grime when we washed it in the dishwasher, and disassembling it to clean it thoroughly broke the clip and rendered the entire thing useless.

I accidentally dropped the lid one day when unloading the dishwasher, and it cracked immediately.

Save your money and look for a good deal on a real food processor - we managed to snag a Cuisinart Prep 9 for only $105 shipped, and could tell right away that it was made with quality parts.
